Veterinarians for Animal Welfare Aotearoa

BACKGROUND

Helen Beattie has a deep-seated passion for advocating for animal welfare, but not in a PETA-esque "let's throw paint on fur coats" way. She's genuinely keen to see humans and animals coexist in a more holistically beneficial way. An opportunity to set up her own advocacy group from the ground up was dropped in her lap, and Veterinarians for Animal Welfare Aotearoa (VAWA) was born.

APPROACH

She needed the full gamut of marketing material from branding, to a fully fledged website, to a suite of print media.

Areas of focus

  • Cost - reliance on public funding meant the end result must be incredibly cost effective
  • Manageability - non print media must be something she can manage and maintain in-house as much as possible
  • Flexibility - each piece needed to be efficient, multifunctional and scalable to allow it's purpose to pivot as needed

Once the foundation pieces were in place, we moved into supporting media to assist her with pitching to prospective donors. This culminated in the creation of a visually connected set of informational material wrapped up in a custom branded folder. There were numerous short design rounds involved interspersed with audience testing and feedback between each which made for a super efficient design process tailor made for her target audience and own presentation style preferences.

OUTCOME

View the Website

I've had so many compliments about VAWA's beautiful website, logos, business cards and our awesome pitch infographic - in fact, everything she's designed! Lauren's approach in developing the suite was invaluable.

She was ruthless in asking hard questions about what I wanted to achieve - questions like what is the point; the purpose; can you say it in less words? From colours, to design, to font, to images - it's all Lauren's brilliance, and I could not be more happy with what she created. Solid fist pump, high five and a recommendation.
